So what is a Content Management System website?

We build websites using a Content Management System (CMS).  It's a way of structuring the aspects of your site (text, pictures, documents, forms, e-commerce, etc) into a database that allows you to display and edit your content online.  Think of your content as single articles and how they might be filed into a filing cabinet.  A CMS allows you to have a website template and each link is a command that pulls particular articles from the filing cabinet (database) which creates the web page of content you want your customers to see.

Having all the content and elements of your site stored in a database allows you greater flexibility in the build of your webpages. You don't have to write every single page individually - you can structure pages effortlessly from a user interface similar to a word processing program.  If you can use Microsoft Office, you can work Joomla! and manage your own website.

We create a template and then organise your content structure.  This means you can update and manage your own website without the knowledge of complicated html and css coding or additional software.  It is extendable with a plethora of modules and components that add differing levels of functionality to your content and pictures and most importantly, user interaction.

What can I do with a CMS?

  • You can allow multiple users to access the site with varying degrees of privileges and rights to change content
  • You can add, manage, delete and update content and menu items as and when you like, from any internet browser - this means you can be on the other side of the world and you can update your website
  • Your website can be compatible with W3C web standards
  • You can actively manage your website for search engine optimisation
  • You can choose from a huge range of extensions to make your website more interactive and user-friendly, as well as increase your ability to sell, talk, listen and work with your customers
